I'm coming!!!
I'm so glad to be in Brazil while these 2 events are happening:
- Bienal Sao Paulo 2012: arts event, I believe one of the biggest if not the bigger in Latin America.
Can't wait to come, specially, I want to see the pieces of one of the hippest brazilian artists nowadays- Adriana Varejao. She's been so well regarded to a point to have a gallery for her name in Inhotim. Well, let me talk about Inhotim. I have never been there YET, but it's one of the places I want to go the next time I come to Brazil in November! It seems to be simply AMAZING!! It's an outdoors Contemporary Art Institute and Botanical Garden, located in Minas Gerais- south east Brazil.

- "Outras Ideais para o Rio - OIR (Other ideas for Rio)": it has started on our Independency Day (Sep 7th) and it's about transforming Rio in a "open sky art gallery". 4 gigantic sculptures are placed in important locations around the city. I'm very curious about the gigantic head, created by the spanish Jaume Plensa, that floats in Botafogo beach!!! This kind of event will start happening every 2 years until the Olympic Games in 2016.
-Art Rio: Contemporary Art Fair. Starts on Sep 13th.
Rio and Sao Paulo: counting the days to "play" with you again!!!!

Happy Birthday
Saturday, April 14th, 2012.
BA 246 flight, from Sao Paulo to London.
It was 7ish am when we landed in London.
I had a terrible flight, couldn't sleep for more than 15 min...
They apparently were apart during the flight. A family of 5: mum, dad and 3 children- 2 girls and a boy.
I left the plane and "Dad" was waiting for them. Suddenly, the most sweet "sleepy" voice starts singing "Happy Birthday to you..."
All of us, leaving the plane looked back to that girl. Long brown "messy" hair, beautiful black eyes...
"Dad's" face lighten up and the most beautiful smile appeared in his face, a great way to arrive "home" on his birthday I guess...
And then, amongst that sea of people arriving in Heathrow this morning, a small choir started following that sweet girl and her family singing "Happy Birthday" to her dad. If it was in Brazil, maybe I wouldn't be so impressed...Touched I'd be anyway though...
But as I'm in England, after a long haul flight, full of "no- morning" people I'm sure!, that was uplifting.
I looked around after we finished singing and there wasn't a person without a smile on her face.
Then, down to take the transit to the arrivals terminal luckily enough the family was right beside me and I had the chance to look into that "Dad's" eyes and wish him Happy Birthday myself...
So, that's how getting home felt like this morning. And I was so in need of something like that...
It made me reinforce my belief that if you are good, God will always send you signs to reassure you that there is something bigger, more important... and sometimes, even if you feel lost, confused, with no clear direction, again, if you are good, great things will come in your way...
Now, time to try to rest and get some sleep...

"Pegada" street art
When I was living in Sao Paulo, I lived in Vila Madalena- a neighbourhood known for its artistic and relaxed vibe.
Very close to my place, there was this street (known as Beco) full of graffiti & street art. It was fun to change my way just to see what was new there every once in a while.
Today, a friend (thanks Aline!) shared a picture of this french artist on her Facebook.
I found it so inspired, so cool! And it also kind of break a bit the rules of the "conventional" graffiti, always so "statement", most of the times so "busy", so full of information.
I liked the subtlety, the romance and... definitely it has "a pegada"!!!!
(Please, someone help me to translate "pegada"!!! I tried everything, from Google to friends...no one knows how to translate it! So, actually, this is another of those words with no translation, such as Saudades...Saudades da Vila, Saudades do Brasil!!)
